Our story
In a world where it's growingly hard to tell fact from fiction, RunCred is a few runners' attempt to bring credibility to a little microcosm of the internet that we call the online running community.
Runners' digital community is a unique place, unlike any other part of the internet! It's a world where strangers support and encourage each other. Sure, there's a healthy dose of competition and a whole lot of bragging, but it's mostly friendly... Mostly!
However the challenge with runners' online community is that it's fragmented, spread all over the internet, across regular social media and a plethora of training apps that log/sync data from GPS watches and smartphones. Moreover, much like most things on the internet, the accuracy and authenticity of data and content can often be questionable, at best.
But if there's one thing that runners hold true as gospel, it's race results! And despite official race results being considered sacrosanct, somehow most of us don't seem to have any way to keep track of all our race results! Hence, we created RunCred to give fellow runners a platform rooted in the credibility of their official race results from (WA & AIMS) certified races!
The platform allows runners to find and log their official results, build their athlete profiles, track their progress over time, and earn their RunCred; a scoring system inspired by World Athletics' scoring for elite athletes. The RunCred scoring system allows runners of every skill level to scientifically benchmark against other runners, across the globe. It normalizes performances based on gender and age, bringing everyone on one level running track! RunCred is our attempt at creating a meritocracy in a world where popularity seems to supersede performance.
